Ivan Sohrakoff

I grew up on the coast of Northern California, went to school at UC Davis, graduated in 1998, and currently reside in Woodland, CA.

From 1999-2006, I worked first as a graphic designer and then as art director for an international wine company called Vincor . Since 2006, I've been the Creative Director for Nugget Markets, a 12-store grocery chain in Northern California. In 2010, Nugget Markets was listed as the 5th best company to work for by Fortune Magazine. Our creative department designs and manages our corporate identity, advertising, in-store signage, website content, packaging, labels, collateral, video production, photography, and contributes a great deal to our marketing programs. I currently manage graphic designers, a photographer, and a marketing coordinator.

Throughout the years of my professional work, I've focused on graphic design, print production, photography, video & dvd production, website development, online marketing and managing creative people. I've had great opportunities and learning experiences which have shaped my career in the graphic design industry.

In late 2009, I took up landscape photography. Two of my photograhs were selected in the juried show for the 2010 CA State Fair. This photo won an Award of Excellence, which was one of five color images to receive such an award. For my current work, please visit my Flickr Photostream. I lead a band called the Bottom Dwellers, and we're currently recording our third CD. I sing lead vocals, play guitar and banjo, and book performances. I record professional audio for various needs, including audio CDs, voice-overs, and broadcast quality productions. I am a luthier (guitar-maker), and taught guitar design and construction classes at the UC Davis Craft Center for a few years. I also make furniture and other wooden things.
